What DRB Provides in its Partnership

IMG_0833The Deep River Partnership provides you with all of the help you need to publish your book with professional publishing company and get your book distributed. If we decide to publish your book, you’ll be able to see your book in retail bookstores, as well as buy back copies at substantial author discounts from the retail price.

This is how it works:

Writing Consultation and Editing

We work with you, step-by-step, in offering feedback, editing and style comments until your manuscript is ready for publication. Our editorial team is led by Tamara Barnet, our Editorial Director.

Title and Cover Design

We assist with creative suggestions for the title of your book, and use professional graphic designers to design the cover. (Yes, we let the author have input into the look of the final design.)

Printing

We partner with you in the initial print run. We decide how many copies to print for initial bookstore distribution. You decide how many you wish to buy for your own distribution. You, as author, can purchase your book at discounts from 30-75% off retail, depending on the quantity you order with the initial print run.

How We Market

Deep River Books has created marketing partnerships that are some of the most powerful in the industry. Our marketing team helps with creative content for the back cover of your book and the catalog in which your book is listed. They also produce a downloadable media kit and create a press release sent to the our top media contacts. Our team works with you to arrange media interviews when the opportunity arises. Deep River Books displays your book at selected industry trade shows, such as the International Christian Retail Show and the Retailing Reboot. We also send Advanced Review Copies to influential bloggers, reviewers and other media contacts that cover your reading audience. Our team looks for unique ways to broadcast your message through Christian media outlets, such as radio, print publications, television and online news sources.

Second, our distribution starts with our incredible sales team at Bookmasters, located in Ashland, Ohio. They are a part of Baker & Taylor, which was recently acquired by Follett Publishing. Follett has been in business for over 140 years and is one of the largest educational publishing companies in the world. In acquiring Bookmasters as part of their purchase of Baker & Taylor, they committed to not only expanding Bookmasters’ services in general, but specifically the Christian branch of Bookmasters. Bookmasters itself has been in business for 40 years. We are genuinely impressed by the quality of their work and their customer service.

Third, we market your book to hundreds of independent Christian retailers, as well as to the secular bookstore trade.

Finally (if you need or want additional marketing), Deep River Books works with a select group of outside vendors to assist in all aspects of marketing, social networking, media relations, website development, platform branding, ancillary products, and more.

While there is no guarantee that your book will become a bestseller, our sales and marketing teams are among the most talented and comprehensive in the industry. They will work hard to present your book to the media and hundreds of retail outlets across America.

We hope this helps you understand how we work, so you can decide if you should take the next step. If approved for publication by our editorial team, we would be delighted to help your book concept become a reality. We look forward to hearing from you if you think our system will work for you.
